----0. General Comments

If anyone has better translations for the names of Pot's pots, please tell me. I
was improvising a bit.

This file is best viewed using a fixed-width font.

If you're looking for the answer to a specific question, but don't want to risk
spoiling the rest of the game, check the "Frequently Asked Questions" section
first to see if it's there.

Spells and skills are listed with the character who learns them.

The marking "n/a" in the Level Gained column for a spell or skill means that it is
learned during a special event in the game.

----I. General game advice

The game can be saved at the tiles marked with a shell.

The battle menu icons at the beginning of a round are, from left to right,
"Fight", "Run", "Plan"
The icons for characters commands are "Attack", "Magic", "Item", "Special skill"
and "Defend". If an option is not available (if a characters doesn't know any
spells, for example), the icon is dimmed.
Later in the game, a sixth icon, "Shell", is added between "Special Skill" and
"Defend". It is used to summon the Shell Dragons once they join you.

It doesn't matter which characters are in your party. The game can be won with any
combination. You can keep the same party for the whole game, or change every five
minutes. You'll need specific characters to get the side-story events, but you
won't miss any of the main story.
(Heck, you don't even have to *find* all the characters. The first time I finished
the game, I never found Poyon)

Be sure to check all the pots, chests-of-drawers, desks, etc. Some have items
hidden in them.

Pressing an holding the B button will make your character walk faster.

When you're stuck, try using the "B" Helpers through the "suketto" command in the
Command window. They have specialized skills that can help overcome most of the
obstacles in the game.

Characters' HP and MP and restored when they gain a level, so don't be stingy with
the spells!

----II. Story

A long time ago, the land of Shelldorado was attacked by the Demon King
Fattobajah. The Demon King was only defeated by the power of the 4 great shells,
the Fire Shell, Water Shell, Air Shell and Earth Shell. In the final battle,
Fattobajah was sealed by the Aura Balls, and the Balls were sealed in a crypt in
Dorado City so that he could never reawaken.

Then one day, several meteors fell to earth. One of them lands in the village of
the Shell-beasts. Fearing it might be an Aura Ball, the village elder decides to
call the Hero of the Fire Shell back to Shelldorado...

status-change spells. She gains levels quickly.

got drunk and forgot all his magic, so he went on a journey to try to remember it.
He uses staffs for weapons and learns mostly fire- and electricity-based spells.
He learns some powerful spells, but keeping him alive long enough to use them can
be tricky. His HP and defense are very low, and he gains levels relatively slowly.

J. Pot
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Race: Human?
Location: Heroes' Mansion, 4th floor. Search the pots to find him.
100 years ago, Pot was a powerful, but selfish, magician. Suddenly, a strange
woman appeared and sealed him in a pot. Since then, the pot was bought, sold,
swallowed by a fish, resold, and finally ended up in the Heroes' Mansion. Pot is a
powerful magician, probably as powerful as Magi. However, also like Magi, his HP
is very low. He uses staffs for weapons. He learns summoning-type spells, which no
one else learns.
Pot's spells:

K. Poyon
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Race: Shell-beast
Location: My Town
To get Poyon, build a bar in your town and talk to one of patrons. He'll say that
someone's been digging in the bar's garbage at night. After that, bring Baboo to
the town and Poyon will be standing in the corner. He was digging in the garbage
looking for something to eat!
Poyon is one of the Shell Heroes. He's apparently always hungry. He uses hammers
and axes for weapons. He's a good fighter. His choices for armor are extremely
limited, but defense is good enough that it doesn't matter much. Poyon has the
ability to learn the skills of monsters. When a monster uses a spell or special
skill on him, there's a chance he'll learn it.
Poyon's spells:
                                                        Level

L. Saldon
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Race: Hex
Location: Heroes' Mansion, 4th floor
Saldon is the largest of the characters, and as you might expect, the strongest
(physically). He is the chief of the Hex tribe, a tribe whose people have bodies
of stone. He uses hammers for weapons. His attack power and defense against
physical attacks are high. However, his defense against magic is low. He is slow
to gain levels. Since he is already made of stone, he is immune to petrification
attacks. He can only use special armor because of his size.
Saldon's spells:
                                                        Level

---2. "B" helpers

These are the characters called by the "suketto" command in the command window
(5th from the top). They have various skills that are useful in certain
situations.

A. Doron
Location: Underwater cave between Sandside and the Temple Ruins
Purpose: Doron can move through walls and scout ahead in a dungeon.

B. Genji
Location: Manary
Purpose: Genji is a master fisherman. Call him when you're near water, and he'll
go fishing. You never know what he'll catch.

C. Jeeza
Location: Lamille
Purpose: Tells puns. BAD puns. From what he says, it appears that the jokes were
sent in by kids from around Japan. They completely lose their badness when
translated, but here's an example of Jeeza's "artistry": "A black bat just flew
by. It's an ACROBAT." (Acrobat is a play on words: A - Kuro (black) - Bat)

D. Myan
Location: Curiosity Shop near Sandra
Purpose: Myan is a tiny little pixie. She can get into very small spaces where
other characters won't fit.

E. Patapata
Location: Waterfall Cave (Use Piggy to get)
Purpose: Scouts ahead on the world map

F. Piggy
Location: Waterfall Cave
Purpose: He can move heavy rocks that are blocking your path.

G. Pochi
Location: Dr. Deep's lab
Purpose: Pochi can sniff out items hidden underground.

H. Puu
Location: Lamille
Purpose: He can dig through anything. If you call him on the world map, he'll take
you back to the last town you stayed at.

I. Quick
Location: A well in Sandside
Purpose: Quick is an expert at climbing ropes. If you need to climb somewhere,
call Quick. His ropes can be used whether you need to climb up or down. There
needs to be a place for his rope to catch, though.

J. Tongari
Location: Cave north of Waterfall Cave
Purpose: Plays music that attracts monsters. He speaks in an almost-
incomprehensible japanese/english patois.

----VI. "My Town" explanation

SE of Westside, near Dorado City, you'll find a circle of trees. This is an empty
lot that you can develop into a mini-town. Talk to the man in the far north to
change the name of the town. Talk to the man in the center to build or tear down
buildings. You can build and destroy things as many times as you want to pay for,
but you can only have 4 buildings at once.

What you can build:

Your House
Price: 10000 P
You can build your house in 3 styles, "Brick", "Western" or "Log House". It acts
like a free inn.

Weapon Shop
Price: 10001 P
As you might expect, it sells weapons. It's pretty weak.

Tanning Salon
Prince: 10002 P
Let your characters get some sun! LOTS of sun!

Flower Garden
Price: 10003 P
A garden with some flowers. Pretty to look at, but not much use.

Bar
Price: 10004 P
A gathering place. You'll need to build a bar to get Poyon, and a side-story event
for Magi happens here.

Park
Price: 10005 P
Sit on the bench and have your picture taken.

Item Shop
Price: 10006 P
Buy supplies here. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Hot Spring
Price: 10007 P
Restores HP and MP, just like an inn.

House
Price: 10008 P
Just a house. A refugee family will come live there. If you build two houses, the
man in the second house will give you an Again Drop.

----VII. Side-story events

These are special events related to specific characters. Most won't happen unless
the character in question is in your party. They are not part of the main story,
nor are they necessary to complete the game. However, sometimes you can get nice
items for your characters from them.

Bird:
Bird doesn't have to be there for this. If you talk to an inmate in one of the
houses in Pogu Village, he'll tell you about how Bird once saved his life. He was
working on the quarry on the volcano when he was buried by falling rocks. Bird
comes to investigate. He sees the man trapped and moves the rocks off him. Just
then, some soldiers come to get Bird. He's just received a message from Abaluda
about Sandside being attacked by Dogler. Bird decides to go to Sandside
immediately. He tells the soldiers to take care of the injured man and to be
careful of Gilder.

Kirara:
Once you get the submarine, you can go to Coldburn, on on island in the NE. If
Kirara is in your party when you talk to the king, he'll lock her up to keep her
"safe". The only way to get her out is to convince the king you're strong enough
to protect her. The king has a reputation for liking wine. The king's flagship,
the Kirara Star, was sunk by monsters while carrying a shipment of Dorado Queen,
the finest wine in Shell Dorado. Get the wine for the king and he might let Kirara
go.
The wreck of the Kirara Star is just east of Coldburn. You don't have to wait
until Kirara is locked up to go there. I'd recommend getting the wine from the
wreck before going to Coldburn. In order to get to the room with the wine, you'll
need to turn the ship's rudder. The ship's wheel is in a room on the south side of
the boat.
Items to find on the Kirara Star: Condor Spear, Bloody Whip, Battle Axe, Dyna
Claw, Dorado Queen

Talk to the old man in the NE corner of the throne (not while Kirara is locked
up), and he'll tell you about the day Kirara left. The king gets a letter from
Abaluda. The old man goes to take it to the king, but Kirara intercepts him. She's
bored to tears in the castle. She takes the letter and decides to go to Sandside.
Fighting Dogler should be much more interesting than sitting around the castle.
She swears the old man to silence and runs off. The old man tells the king anyway,
but he's too drunk to even sit up straight, let alone go after Kirara.

Linda:
Once you have the submarine, you can go to Linda's hometown of Little Heaven, on
an island east of Chicory. Many people in this village, including Linda's parents,
were killed by Dogler. Linda notices something strange as soon as you arrive.
According to the villagers, a strange priest named Kyle came soon after Linda
left. Soon after that, people began to have their souls sucked away. The villagers
hope that Lina will get rid of Kyle. When you get to the church, Linda says she
can sense the people souls on the other side of the door. Linda prays for them to
let her in. Kyle is inside the church. Yes, it's the same Kyle you fought at
Waterfall Cave. When you fight him, he'll call a ghost, then run away. Defeat the
ghost (nothing will work against Kyle, anyway). After the fight ends, Kyle will
prepare to fight you for real. But before he can, two ghosts stop him. It's
Linda's parents. They will keep the other spirits Kyle has controlled away long
enough for you to defeat him. This time you can fight him like a normal monster.
After the battle, Linda's parents' ghosts say their final goodbyes and leave a
Soul Cross behind for Linda.

Linda's parents' grave is in the NE corner of town. Search it, and Linda will
flash back to when they were killed. Dogler's men had attacked the village and set
the church on fire. Linda's father tells her to hide in the caverns underneath the
church. Linda reluctantly goes to hide. Dogler breaks into the church and demands
that the priest turn over Linda. The priest refuses. Dogler kills both of them and
sends his monsters to find Linda. They don't find her, and Dogler leaves empty-
handed. After they leave, Linda emerges from her hiding place and finds her
parents dead. She decides to go to Sandside and fight Dogler any way she can.

Magi:
Go to Westside with Magi in your party, and there will be a man in a yellow hat
waiting at the west side of town. This is Mago, Magi's old rival. He lost a magic
duel to Magi 10 years ago, and has been burning for revenge ever since. He'll
challenge Magi to another duel. He only has about 15 HP, so he's easy to beat.
After the fight, Magi will *almost* remember a spell ("Giga-something")

Magi doesn't actually have to be around for this one. Build a bar in your town and
talk to one of the men there. He'll tell you about why Magi joined you. Magi was
drinking at the bar. After the waitress told him he'd had too much to drink, he
tried to cop a feel. She clobbered him with her tray. The bartender asks him to
pay his tab, or work it off. Magi's too broke to pay and too lazy to work it off,
so he tries to blast the bartender with a spell. But it doesn't work! It seems
that knock from the waitress did more damage than he thought. As if that weren't
enough, Magi's bookie barges in wanted his gambling debt paid. A whopping 10000P!
Magi's just gotten a letter from Abaluda, looking for mercenaries. Since Abaluda
is rich, Magi should able to make enough money working for him to pay off his
debt. By now, his debt has risen to 20000P. If you pay it off for him, he'll give
you the Fancy Staff, which Magi gave him as collateral.

Pot:
Take Pot to see Evell on Pearl Island. Pot will recognize her as the woman who
sealed him in the pot 100 years ago. Pot will demand that she release him. Evell
will refuse, and threaten to seal him in an even smaller pot if he disturbs her
research. However, she promises to release him if he helps you bring peace to
Shelldorado.

Saldon:
Once you get the submarine, you can go to Hex island, in the middle of the map.
Saldon's house is the large one in the middle of town. You can read in his diary
about when he left for Sandside. Saldon received a letter from Abaluda asking him
to come to Sandside and fight Dogler. Abaluda is an old friend of his, so he
decides to go. He talks about he'll miss his wife, Milza, and his son, Coldon, but
he can't let Dogler and his kind endanger Hex Island.
After that, Milza takes over writing in the diary. Saldon had left for Sandside
ealier that day. Milza, Coldon and the rest of the village went to see him off.
Saldon tells Coldon to be a good boy and take care of his mother. Milza wishes him
well and hopes he comes back soon.

If you bring Saldon to Hex village, one of the villagers will immediately run up
to tell him Coldon is sick. A while back, he found a large hammer and was intent
on giving it to Saldon. When Saldon sees the hammer, he recognizes it as an Ogre
Hammer, the hammer once used by the murderous ogres. The hammer has been cursed by
the spirits of all the people it killed, and the curse has affected Coldon.
Fortunately, there a witch named Hagar living in the forest to the north who knows
how to remove curses.
Go directly north from Hex village and you'll find a forest. The forest is filled
with fog that turns everything to stone. Saldon is immune to it, so he goes ahead
alone. The fog is caused by a Fogstone plant just in front of Hagar's house. Have
Saldon fight the plant. Once the Fogstone is dead, the forest and Hagar return to
normal. Saldon explains Coldon's situation to Hagar, and Hagar agrees to cure him.
You return to Hex village. Hagar frees the spirits from the Ogre Hammer and
removes the curse. Coldon wakes up almost immediately. Coldon goes to throw the
hammer away, since he doesn't want the curse to affect Saldon, but Hagar assures
him that the curse is completely gone. Coldon gives Saldon the Ogre Hammer.
Items to find in Hagar's Forest (after beating the Fogstone):
Items to find in Hex Village: Megabazooka, Fairy Medicine, Deep Metal

Tokia:
Once you get the Puka shell, you'll be able to go to Dima's island, in the NE
corner of the map. Bring Tokia to see Dima and he'll give her Dima's Bow. He also
tells her that he's researching the ultimate spell, "Last Rainbow", and will give
it to her when she's gained enough experience as a weather-mage to use it.
Stuff to find: Black Needle, Revival Herb

Bring Tokia to see Tree in Mosswood. Tree mentions that if her granddaughter,
Sonia, were alive, she'd be about Tokia's age. Her granddaughter was stolen by the
Storm Bird when she was 1 year old. Sonia's parents went to Storm Mountain to try
to rescue her, but never came back. Tree shows you a charm she made and says Sonia
was wearing one like it. Tokia also has a charm, just like Tree's. Tree tells
Tokia to open the charm up. Inside is a piece of paper that reads "My Name is
Sonia". Tokia is Sonia! Tree asks her to stay and live in Mosswood, but Tokia
can't just yet. There are still things she has to do, but she promises to return
to Mosswood after they've saved Shelldorado.

After the flood, go to Dima's island again. Dima won't be there, but you find his
reasearch notes. It says he finally succeeded in mastering the Last Rainbow spell,
and wants to give it to Tokia. He set off for Dorado City in a boat, hoping to
find her.
There's an underwater cave in the island south of Dima's island. Ride the currents
to get to the different areas of the cave. Use the walls and rocks to stop
yourself. When you're finished treasure-hunting, go back to the entrance, and take
the tunnel to the left. Go up the stairs, and you'll find Dima. His boat was
wrecked in a storm, and he washed up here.
You take Dima back to his house and he'll give Tokia the Last Rainbow spell. He'll
then tell you about when he found Tokia. He'd gone to Storm Mountain to get some
practice, when the Storm Bird returned to its nest. It was carrying a baby.
Thinking the Storm Bird meant to eat the baby, Dima attacked the bird with his
magic. Dima took the baby back to his house. Since he has no idea where the baby
was taken from, and can't possibly search all of Shelldorado for her parents, he
decides to raise her himself. If he's going to raise her, she needs a name. Hmm,
Tenko? Nope. Amenofsky? Nope. Evell? No, that's taken. Tokia? Yeah, that's good.
Her name is Tokia.
10 years later, the letter from Abaluda comes, requesting his help fighting
Dogler. He sends Tokia in his place so she can get some practice.
Items to find in Current Cave: Scat Mint, Exploding Ball, Snake Rod, Revival
Water, Fancy Hat, Martial-arts Gi, Magical Cube, Bamboo Claws

----VIII. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which characters should I have in my party?
A: Anyone you want. If you like the use magic in battle, pack your team full of
magicians. If you like to bash things, use warriors. The game can be won with any
combination. I've tried to describe the capabilities of each character as much as
possible in the Character section, so check it out if you need help deciding. My
personal favorites are Kirara, Tokia and Baboo.

Q. Where is Poyon?
A. To get Poyon, build a bar in your town and talk to one of patrons. He'll say
that someone's been digging in the bar's garbage at night. After that, bring Baboo
to the town and Poyon will be standing in the corner. He was diggin in the garbage
looking for something to eat!

Q: Where is Kupikupi?
A: In the lake north of Lamille. Once the fisherman Genji joins you, have him fish
in the lake and he'll catch Kupikupi.

Q: Where is the Air Shell?
A: Kupikupi has it. See the previous question.

Q: I looked where Chicory's or Sandside's Stamp cards are supposed to be, but they
weren't there. Where are they?
A: Have you gone to see the Stamp Rally man in the Heroes' Mansion, yet? The cards
don't appear until you get the world map from him.

---IX. Caves

These are small caves on the world map. They're neither required for the main
story, nor part of a side-story event, so I didn't include them in the walkthru
section. Mostly, they're just places to find items.

Location: North of Waterfall Call (Need Piggy to get in)
There's a chest containing a Vitalin A.
There's also a Shell-beast rock musician named Tongari, who joins you as a "B"
helper. His music attracts monsters. No accounting for taste, I guess...

Location: East of Haunted Forest
There's a chest containing a Wing Bone.

Location: An island SE of Sandra (Need Piggy and the Puka shell)
There's a chest containing a Magic Drink.

Location: Ganarre Island, on the eastern edge of the map
There are two chests containing a Revival Herb and an Again Drop. This is actually
part of a larger dungeon, but the rest isn't accessible from the cave.

Location: A small island east of Ganarre island
There are two chests containing a Snake Rod and a Megahammer.

Location: Lagoon near Seaman Temple
There are two chests containing 100P and a Revival Harb

Several chests containing a Vitalin All, Star Knife, Dash Powder, Heavy Stone,
Black Needle, Caprico Drink, Protect Oil, Revival Herb

Location: Next to Sandside (underwater, use torpedo)
There are chsts containing a Vitalin All and Catacomb Key. Use the Catacomb Key to
open the door to the south and open the casket. The ghost Doron was trapped
inside. Now that you've freed him, he'll join as a "B" helper. Since he doesn't
have a body, he can float through walls and scout ahead in dungeons.

Location: Temple Ruins, after the flood.
If you scout around after getting Doron, you'll see that there are staircases
where there used to be treasure chests. Go to the temple ruins and explore.
Items to find: Meteorite Shard, Flare Seed, Dororo Comb, Spot Cooler, Snowstorm
Ball, Sunshine Bomb

Location: Island north of Chicory
A chest containing a Megahammer.

There's a chest containing a Murder Star.

Location: Large island south of Bridgetown
There are three chests containing a Battle Axe, Magic Half and Bloody Whip.
Thee is also an old woman named Morley, used was swept there by the tidal wave.
After talkng to Morley, go back to Dorado City and talk to one of the residents
near the big hole. He'll tell you he picked up a message in a bottle from Morley
saying she was doing fine. He'll tell you Morley was the nurse who raised Dorado
City's prince, but she vanished in the river 20 years ago.

----X. Optional Dungeons

These are dungeons that are not part of the main story.

--Ancient Tower
You can reach this one once you have the submarine.
There is a submerged tower NW of Wind Tower. Like the Wind Tower, there's nothing
but stairs and chests.
Items to find: Dyna Claw, Power Ring, Magical Cube, Vitalin All

---Zenim's Hidden Tower
Once you have the Grom Bug, you can fly to Zenim's Hidden Tower. It's surrounded
by mountains on the west side of the map.
In order to get to some of the treasure, you have to jump through holes in the
floor.
In the bottom-floor room, there is another room behind the stairs. Examine the
portrait of Zenim to find a lever. The lever lowers the floor, leading to another
treasure room.
Items to find in Zenim's Hidden Tower: Gigabanga Ball, Gigahyde Ball, BB Gun
Pellet, Laser Cannon, Bactero Capsule, Bazooka Cannon, Raiden Ball, Megabazooka,
Revival Water, Vital Follow

----42b. Irukan Shrine (optional dungeon)

Once you get the upgraded submarine, you'll see a large whale swimming NW of
Chicory. The whale's name is Moby (really!) and he carried the Irukan Shrine on
his back. It's home to the Irukan tribe, a tribe similar to the Seaman tribe you
saw earlier.
Go see King Flippas (again, really!). He offers you to treasure in his storeroom
(the far left door), but the door is locked. A statue of their god, Aureka, was
used as the key, but it was lost in an undersea cave.
Dive into the deep water around Moby. Go into the northern hole to enter Aureka
Cave. It's a small cave, so you shouldn't have any problem finding the statue.
Once you find it, go back to the Irukan Shrine and use it at the locked door.
Items to find in Aureka Cave: Revival Water, Aureka Statue
Items to find in Irukan Shrine: Magic Drink, Vitalin All, Star Knife, Holy Drop,
Aureka's Pot, Fairy Medicine
"Irukan" is actually a play on words. "Iruka" means "dolphin".

----XII. Walkthru

---0. Introduction

A beam of light shoots up from Dorado City. It reaches into space, where it hits
an asteroid. The asteroid falls to earth and lands in the sea. The impact sets off
tidal waves which flood the world. Several smaller balls fly out from the
asteroid. One of the lands in the Shell-beast village.

A group of shell-beasts gather around the ball, wondering what it is. The village
elder comes to investigate. He thinks the ball might be an Aura Ball. If it is,
that means trouble. It's time to call another Fire Shell Hero. The other shell-
beasts go to prepare for the ceremony.

The ceremony begins. The villagers dance as the elder chants. Finally, the Fire
Shell appears from the sky. Soon after, a boy appears in a column of light (That's
you!). A new Fire Shell Hero has appeared.

The elder explains that you've been summoned to the mysterious land of Shelldorado
from another world. He asks your name. Enter a name. Pick "CH" to switch between
hiragana, katakana and alphabet letters. Pick "END" when you're finished.

The elder continues his story. About 100 years ago, the Demon King Fattobajah
threatened to destroy Shelldorado. But then the Fire Shell Hero appeared. He,
along with the other three Shell Heroes, sealed Fattobajah away deep underground.
Now that another Aura Ball has appeared, they once again prayed to the Fire Shell
for another Hero to come. Your job is to reseal the Aura Ball. To do that, you'll
need to find the other three shells- the Water Shell, Air Shell and Earth Shell.
Unfortunately, they were washed away by the tidal wave. The other three Shell
Heroes, Baboo, Kupikupi and Poyon, were sent to find them. The elder begs you to
take the Aura Ball to Dorado City and seal it up. When you agree, the Fire Shell
flashes.

---1. Shell-beast village

The next morning, the elder tells you about Baboo, Kupikupi and Poyon. After
discovering the three Shells missing, he summoned the three Heroes. Baboo readily
agrees to go find them. Kupikupi is a bit aprehensive, but agrees. Poyon is
hungry. The next morning, they set off, although Poyon is still sleepy.

Now you can explore the village. When you're ready to leave, use the Puka Shell
floating in front in the river in the south end of town. Talk to the shell-beast
in front of it and he'll let you use it.

One of the things you'll find in the village is the shared diary belonging to an
eldery couple named Pokkin and Puuko. Pokkin is waiting in the storehouse in the
NE corner.

Another hut has a dirty book on the desk.

One of the shell-beasts will give you a kiss :).

There are no stores here, yet, but a couple of Shell-beasts are thinking of
opening one...

Items to find in Shell-beast village: Kamidanomin (2)

---2. Chicory village

When you're finished in Shell-beast village, set out to sea in the Puka Shell.
Unfortunately, you won't make it to Dorado City. Something under the ocean will
attack you and destroy your Puka Shell. When you come to, you find yourself in
Chicory village, home of the Saboten tribe. You're in the home of Cactus, the
village elder, and his granddaughter, Aloise. (A side note: Saboten is the
japanese word for cactus) They found you unconscious near the village. You tell
them about the Fire Shell and the Aura Balls. However, you've lost the Aura Ball
you were carrying. It must have gotten lost when you were attacked.

The ground shakes. Another Saboten comes in and tells the elders that the town is
being pelted by meteorites, and strange monsters are hatching out of them. The
women and children have all taken shelter underground. The elder takes you and
Aloise into the shelter with him. Outside, the young men try to fight off the
strange monsters, but the monsters seal them in cocoons and they're carried off by
a strange craft.

The elder goes outside and sees the craft still overhead. You and Aloise join him.
The elder tells you of a legend that states that when Shelldorado is in danger,
the Fire Shell Hero will appear from the heavens and save the world. Since you,
the Fire Shell Hero, have appeared, it must mean something awful is about to
happen to Shelldorado. Perhaps Fattobajah will be reawakened. If so, you'll need
to find that Aura Ball and seal it quickly. The elder suggests you go to the city
of Sandside in the southeast. He gives you 100P, and Aloise offers to use her
alchemy skills to make you healing items.

Examine the dressers to find the way into the underground shelter.

In talking to the Saboten people, you'll hear of a tyrant named Dogler, who rules
in the east. Apparently he's been kidnapping pretty girls. One of the Sabotens
wonders why he hasn't kidnapped her.

You'll also hear about Abaluda, the ruler of Sandside, who is recruiting strong
warriors to fight Dogler.

Drinking from the fountain will restore your HP and MP.

Items to find in Chicory village: 210 P, Poizunon (2), Kamidanomin (2)

---3. Sandside

Head southeast from Chicory. You'll see a sign pointing the way to Sandside.
Sandside is on a peninsula just south of the mountains.

In talking to the townspeople, you'll learn that the tidal wave washed out the
bridge to the next town, Bridgetown (you can see it across the sea to the SE). Now
the only way to the main continent is the cave in the temple to the west. That
same temple is supposed where Fattobajah once sealed away a pixie.
Dogler has apparently kidnapped all the young, pretty girls from the town. Abaluda
has gather several warriors from all over the world to protect the city and
perhaps rescue the girls.
Two of Dogler's spies infiltrated the city to spy on the warriors in Heroes'
Mansion, but one was captured and is being held in the police station. If you go
to the police station to see the spy, he'll tell you that Dogler has found an Aura
Ball and intends to use it to resurrect Fattobajah. The kidnapped girls are to be
a sacrifice. The second spy will shoot him with a posioned dart before he can tell
you anything else.

Check the well in the NW corner. You'll hear someone calling for help. Throw him a
rope. The voice belongs to Quick, a thief. In gratitude for helping him, he'll
agree to help you whenever you need a rope to climb.

Go see Abaluda in the big building in the center of town and tell him your story.
Upon learning that you are the Fire Shell Hero, Abaluda will ask you to save to
kidnapped girls and retrieve the Aura Ball before Dogler can use it. The warriors
he's gathered are waiting in the "Heroes' Mansion", the tower to the west.

The Heroes' Mansion is where you can switch party members. You can have up to four
party members, including yourself, at a time. Talk to the man on the left side of
the desk on the first floor to switch. You can talk to the other available
characters elsewhere in the tower.

The man on the right side of the desk runs the Stamp Rally game. The first time
you talk to him, he'll give you a map. When you find a stamp card, it is recorded
on the map.

Go to the 4th floor of the Heroes' Mansion and you'll find Baboo, one of the Shell
Heroes. He's gotten separated from the others. He tells you the his story. He,
Kupikupi and Poyon search through countless towns for the missing Shells, with no
luck. While sailing in their Puka shell, they are attacked. When Baboo comes to,
he finds himself alone on a beach somewhere, with no trace of Kupikupi or Poyon.

Items to find in Sandside: 200 P, Kamidanomin (2), Magic Drink

---4. Temple Ruins

Go west from Sandside to find the Temple Ruins. Soon after you enter there will be
some stairs leading down. They lead to an underground room with a weight suspended
from the ceiling, and a rope on the back wall. Pull the rope to open the door to
the ruins.

Just before the door to the ruins is a floor of grey tiles. Only some of these are
real. If you step on the wrong one, you'll fall into the underground room.
Depending on who's with you, one of your companions might complain at you :). You
can try again as many times as you need to to get by.

Once you get past the skeleton, you hear a voice in your head. It says "Help me.
My name is Sara. I'm locked in this box. Someone please help me." Perhaps it's the
pixie. Step on the skull mark on the floor to go down.

The lower floor of the ruins has secret passages in the walls. Check all the walls
carefully. One is to the west of the southern elevator. One is SW of the stairway
to the crypt. One is in the far SE corner.

To get the chest just east of the entrance, use Quick's rope.

On the eastern side of the ruins, there's a switch on the floor. Press it to
reveal a stairway leading to a crypt.

The pixie is to the south west of the entrange. You need to walk through the water
to get to it. You'll have to fight the monsters guarding it, but they're not any
harder than the random encounters. After you free the pixie from the chest, she
introduces herself as Sara, servant to the sage Great Gnome. As a thank you, she
gives you the ability to use Special Skills. The only one you'll have now is Twin
Blaze, but you'll learn more later.

After freeing the pixie, leave the temple via the elevator in the southern part of
the ruins.

Items to find in the Temple Ruins: 630 P, Kamidanomin (2), Vitalin A (3), Magic
Drink (2), Iron Claws, Magical Cube

---5. Bridgetown

After leaving the ruins, you'll see a sign pointing the way to Bridgetown.
Bridgetown is to the NE.

Here you'll hear more about Dogler. Bridgetown has also been attacked and had its
girls kidnapped. Dogler's base is to the east. The village of Auran is also in
that direction. What has happened to it? Before Auran are three caves known as
Waterfall Caves. They say Goblins live there.

In the first floor of the inn is a green-haired girl. Her name is Kushura. She was
washed away from her home by the tidal wave and has suffered from amnesia ever
since. She is trying to find someone who knows who she is.

The town elder is the fortune-teller Babajaru, who lives on the top floor of the
NW house. He tells you that Dogler has the Aura Ball you're looking for.

To get to the chests inside the wall, check the water pools on either side. There
are switched there. Flip both the switches and the doors will open.

Items to find in Bridgetown: Medicine Ingredient 1, Vine Whip

---6. Waterfall Cave

Head NE from Bridgetown until you get to a cave by a waterfall. There is another
cave to the north, but a rock is blocking the way. Leave that one for later.

Climb down the ladder to the bottom of the waterfall. You'll find a travelling
merchant there. He's gotten lost and asks to accompany you.

The caves are hidden behind the waterfalls. The first time you enter one, the
merchant will warn you of danger ahead and advise you to drink a special strength
potion he's carrying. Drink it if you want, but I'd advise against it (sure are a
lot of poizunons lying around...).

At the end of the far left tunnel, you'll find an orc chained to the wall. Talk to
him and he'll ask you to free him. The merchant will then reveal his true colors-
he's really Kyle, one of the spies who infiltrated Sandside. If you drank the
potion he offered you, you'd find out it was really poison, and it would be taking
effect right about now.

You then have to fight Kyle. His normal arrows don't do much damage, but watch out
for the fire ones. Water-based spells work best against him.

After beating Kyle, you cut the orc free. The orc is Piggy. He'd been one of
Dogler's gang, but had tried to leave when he found out Dogler intended to
resurrect Fattobajah. He joins you as a "B" helper. He is very strong and can move
large rocks and other heavy things easily.

Go to the far right tunnel and use Piggy to move the stone off of Patapata.
Patapata will join you as a "B" helper. He can fly, so he's useful to scout ahead
on the world map.

At the end of the middle tunnel is a rock. Use Piggy to move it.

Items to find in Waterfall Cave: Poizunon (4), Vitalin A, Goblin Sword, Leather
Cape, Traveller Staff

---7. Auran/Moguru/Dogler's Fort

Head north from the exit to find Auran. However, it looks like you were too late.
The town has already been ravaged by Dogler. The only survivors are hiding
underground. One of them tells you that Dogler's base is to the SE.

South of Auran is a clearing in the forest. This is Moguru village, home of the
Mole tribe. The Mole tribe live i n holes in the ground. Search the holes to talk
to them. The couple living in the NE corner has a son named Puu who was washed
away by the tidal wave and hasn't been seen since.

Head east over the bridge, then south past the mountains to Dogler's Fort. The
front door is marked with a large red scorpion. Use the key you won from Kyle to
get in.

On the first floor, you'll find the kidnapped girls. Unfortunately, you won't be
able to get them out of their cell without first defeating Dogler.

Beware of the quicksand traps on the second floor. Try to stay as close to the
walls as possible to avoid them.

When you get to the top floor, you hear Dogler talking with a woman. He wants to
use the Aura Ball to resurrect Fattobajah at once, but the woman wants him to wait
until he gets rid of the intruders (namely you). She leaves before you can see who
she is.

You'll find Dogler on the roof of the fort, with the Aura Ball. He'll complain
about how you're interfering in his plan to conquer the world, then attack you.

Dogler will cast Blocked a few times at the beginning of the battle. This will
make attacking him with physical weapons difficult. However, it also means he
won't attack you for a few rounds. Take advantage of it by pelting him with spells
early on. All types seem to work about the same.

After defeating Dogler, you'll take back the Aura Ball and free the girls. One of
the girls tells you that Kushura, the girl you met in Bridgetown, was with them,
but was taken away somewhere just before you arrived.

Items to find in Dogler's Fort: Chain Beaut, Vitalin All, Power Boomerang, Ripper
Claws, Antidote Ring, Hairpin, Pot Lid, Stone Hammer, Iron Spear, Goblin Sword,
Magic Drink

If you go back to Auran after beating Dogler, one of the survivors will vow to
rebuild the town and ask you to give it a new name. If you go to Sandside,
Bridgetown or Chicory, you'll see all the girls back where they belong.

Go back to Sandside and talk to Abaluda. He'll offer you a reward of 10000P. You
can try to refuse if you want to seem humble, but he'll make you take it anyway.
He'll also tell you that Babajaru in Bridgetown wants to see you.

Go see Babajaru. He tells you about a legendary sword that is supposed to appear
along with the Fire Shell Hero. You'll need it to seal the Aura Ball.

To get to the next town, you'll have to go back to Dogler's Fort. Yes, all the way
back there. Go down the stairs in front of the cell. The gate there is now open.

When you return to the world map, you'll be just west of Dorado City. Dorado City
is on an island, with three smaller towns around it. Unfortunately, the tidal wave
washed out all three of the bridges. You'll only be able to get to two of the
towns for now- Lamille and Westside

---8. Lamille/Westside

The first town you come to is the northern one, Lamille. Lamille was recently
attacked by meteorites, just like Chicory. Everyone caught outside was turned into
a giant coccoon. Some of the coccoons were taken away by the strange ship, but a
few were left behind. One of the victims was the town elder, Milmy, who apparently
knows something about the strange craft. Nothing the townspeople have can cut
through the coccoons. However, if you can get some Cosmostone from Garr mountain
in the north and take it to the Laban, the blacksmith in Manary, just past Garr
Mountain, maybe he can make something that can cut it.

Milmy's house is in the NW corner. On the top floor, you'll find Puu the missing
boy from Maguru village. More on him later.

In a house on the west side, you'll find a Shell-beast comedian named Jeeza. The
owner of the house has grown tired of his bad puns, and begs you to take him away.
You're probably better off without him, but if you talk to Jeeza, he'll join you
as a "B" helper. Any time you're in the mood for a bad pun, call Jeeza.

In the house just to the right of the entrance, you'll see a familiar face. It's
Kushura, who was sold to the family here as a slave. The master of the house will
agree to free her for 5000P. Go ahead and pay it.

Items to find in Lamille: Steel Bow, Copper Armor

Westside is (surprise!) to the west of Dorado City. It is famous for the Largo
breed cows they raise there. The town's symbol is the giant cowbell in the center
of town. The town doesn't seem to have been damaged much, either by the tidal
wave, or the strange craft that attacked Lamille.

The bridge to Dorado City has been washed out, but no one from the city has come
to fix it, and no one has heard anything from the city.

Westside is home to Marge, one of the famous "Four Sisters", daughters of Great
Gnome. She lives in the house in the NE corner. Show her the Fire Shell and tell
her your story. Marge, along with her sisters, Milmy, Colicott and Evell, have
been researching the Aura Balls. She doesn't think the fact that the bridges to
Dorado City have been destroyed was just a coincidence.

Before you go any further, go SE of Westside to the ring of trees. There's an
empty lot waiting to be developed. See the "My Town Explanation" section for
information about this.

---9. Seaman Temple

Seaman Temple is SW of Westside. It doesn't matter whether you go here or Garr
Mountain first, but since Seaman Temple is closer, I've listed it first.

The temple is home to mermaids. Just the people to see if you're looking for
something that was lost in the ocean, right? The mermaid by the entrance asks if
you're looking for a shell and tells you to see the elder.

Even though the temple wasn't badly damaged by the tidal wave, the lagoon leading
to the Shellman Sea was blocked by falling rocks. However, the Seaman people can
sense that there's something else amiss somewhere in the ocean. There have been
many earthquakes lately. Perhaps they were caused by the falling rocks...

Stepping on the pool in the center of the village will restore your HP and MP.

Talk to Gill, the elder, at the south end of the temple. He's found the Water
Shell. He goes to get it, when a giant fish breaks through the wall to the north.
It is Babaloganba, a monster fish that supposedly only lives in undersea caves.
Gill tries to drive Babaloganba away, but ends up getting swallowed!

Buy some Bait at the item shop, then follow Babalonganba into the cave. At the end
of the cave, you'll see Babaloganba swimming. Use the Bait to lure him over.
Babaloganba is immune to water-based spells (he's a fish, after all), but fire and
lightning spells work well.

After you defeat the giant fish, the elder is freed and he gives you the Water
Shell.

Go see the elder after returning to the temple and he will give you a Seaman Spear

Items to find in Seaman Temple: Magic Drink, Revival Herb, Caprico Drink, Vitalin
All, Water Shell, Seaman Spear

---10. Garr Mountain

Garr mountain is north of Dorado City. Lots of meteors fall here, as you can tell
by the many craters. If you see a rope hanging from the crater, you can climb into
it. Usually you'll find the long-dead remains of some unfortunate traveller. If
Linda is in your party, she'll say a prayer for them. They may or may not have
items hidden in them.

You'll need to use Quick to get to some places on the mountain. Look for small
rock outcroppings at the top of cliffs.

Near the other end of mountain, you'll find a crater blocked by a rock. Use Piggy
to move the rock and enter the crater. A man was trapped inside the crater. It's
Laban, Manary's blacksmith. He came looking for Cosmostone, but got trapped. Laban
leads you to the end of a cliff. Use Quick to climb up the cliff and get the
Cosmostone. Go back down and give the Cosmostone to Laban.

Exit Garr Mountain and go on to Manary.

Items to find in Garr Mountain: Meteorite Shard, Medicine Ingredient 2, Iron
Hammer, Poizunon, Protect Oil, Large Armor, Cosmostone

---11. Manary

Head north from Garr Mountain to get to Manary. Manary is a fishing village
located on the coast.

The best fisherman in the village is Genji, but he can't fish right now. A sea
monster wrecked his boat, so he's building a stronger one, capable of standing up
to the monsters.

Laban is famous in this area for his skill at making swords. All the fishermen in
Manary have their fishhooks made by Laban. According to the townspeople, Laban's
grandfather forged the legendary "Sword of Love" for the previous Fire Shell Hero.

Go see Laban at his shop (with the sign with a hammer on it). He's almost finished
making the Cosmosword out of the Cosmostone you found on Garr mountain. Once he's
finished, he gives you the sword. It should be able to cut anything!

---12. Cold River

After getting the Cosmosword, go back to Lamille. Go to the house where the
coccoons are and free the people inside with the Cosmosword. One of the people you
save is Milmy, the town elder and one of the "Four Sisters". Milmy takes you back
to her house and tells you about her and her sisters. She, Marge, Colicott and
Evell are the daughters of Great Gnome and a human woman. Great Gnome has been
alive for more than 1000 years, and is the only one left who knows anything about
the catacombs under Dorado City. He now lives in Blizzaland, far to the north.
Colicott, who lives in Sandra should know how to get to Blizzaland. To get to
Sandra, you'll need to cross the Cold River, but the switch to activate the bridge
was broken when the meteorites started falling. The switch is now buried under the
earth, so you'll need help to activate it.

Puu appears from his underground tunnel. Puu is one of the Mole tribe, so he can
dig through the earth easily. Puu joins as a "B" helper, and goes on ahead to the
bridge.

Puu is the boy who went missing from Moguru village. After he joins, go back there
and talk to his parents. After Puu talks to them, two chests containing a Medicine
Ingredient 1 and a Magical Power will appear in the SE corner of the village.

The bridge is just east of Garr mountain. Go down the stairs to the bottom floor.
Puu will dig through the dirt and flip the switch.

---13. Mask Tribe Village / Magic Drop Shop

The village of the Mask Tribe is just across the bridge. The members of the Mask
Tribe wear masks their entire lives. The entire village is contained within a huge
1000-year-old tree. However, the tree has been ill ever since the meteor fell.
Rumor has it that an herb called Hyponesque can cure the tree. Supposed you can
get it in Sandra.

In addition to the usual stores, there is a mask store. The masks can be used in
battle.

SE of the Mask Tribe Village is the Magic Drop Shop. Here you can buy Magic Drops
that raise characters' stats. The catch is, there are only 30 magic drops. Each
character can only take 5.

---13.Haunted Forest

In order to get to Sandra, you'll have to pass through the Haunted Forest.

Always check between the trees for hidden paths and treasure chests.

There are many holes here. You'll find old skeletons in them. Check under the
skeletons to find items. Some of them will have poison needles under them, though,
so bring some Poizunons or someone who knows Venomun.

Drinking from the pools will restore your HP and MP.

Items to find in Haunted Forest: Poizunon (2), Scat Mint, Vitalin All (2), Magic
Drink, Nail Beaut, Revival Herb, Martial-arts Gi, Hayate Sword, 500P

---14. Sandra/Curiosity Shop

The Curiosity Shop is in the forest just in front of Sandra. Here you can buy rare
and powerful items. The stock changes over time, so check it often. To see what
they sell (that I've found, anyway), look for "Curio Shop" in the where-to-get
column of the item lists. One of things you'll want to get of the Strange Map.
It'll come in handy later. The shopkeeper has a pixie in a cage in the corner of
the shop. If you talk to her, the shopkeeper will offer to sell her to you for
10000P. Buy her! Her name is Myan. She went looking for her missing sister, Sara,
but was captured by the shopkeeper. When she hears that you freed her sister, she
decides to accompany you and joins as a "B" helper. Myan is very small, so she can
get into places where you can't.

As soon as you enter Sandra, a man rushes up to you wanting to know if you're the
ones who defeated Dogler. The town's ruler, Zenim, heard of you and wants to thank
you for defeating Dogler. The man drags you into Zenim's mansion before you can
refuse. Take note of what's over the door. A red scorpion... Hmm, where have we
seen that before?

Zenim's personality apparently matches the decor of his mansion. He rejoices over
Dogler's death, not because he was a tyrant, but because he was fat and ugly.
Sheesh. And now that Dogler's gone, his 24-hour-a-day party can continue. His
people are in the process of rebuilding the bridge to Dorado City, and he invites
you to stay in Sandra as his guest until it's finished. While your room is being
prepared, his butler Arzula will show you around the city.

On your way out, you'll see a hole in the wall. Use Myan to investigate. There are
two chests inside containing a Magical Cube and a Prayer Robe.

According to the guards outside, thieves have been getting into the mansion
lately, so they're keeping watch. Zenim has even hired mercenaries to beef up the
mansion's defenses. However, the theif doesn't seem to be interested in anything
other than Zenim's mansion. There are signs all around town advertising a reward
for catching the thief.

According to the Sandra townspeople, several people have gone missing recently.
Apparently, Zenim hasn't done anything about it, either. Unfortunately, one of the
missing people is Colicott, the one you came to see. She went to Dorado City and
hasn't returned. There's a diary in her house that you can read. Colicott sensed
something evil coming from Dorado City and went to investigate. If anything
happens to her, her sister Evell, who lives on Pearl Island, knows how to reach
Great Gnome. Be sure to get the diary before you leave Sandra.

If you try to cross the bridge to the SW part of town, Arzula will stop you,
saying it's "not worthy" of someone like you. If you try to leave, he'll say Zenim
will punish him. It looks like you're stuck.

Go back and see Zenim. He'll say your room is just ready. Arzula leads you to a
room in the eastern part of the mansion. When you go in, the lights will flash and
spikes will come out of the walls. It's a trap! Zenim appears in the mirror and
tells you that he used to be one of Dogler's underlings. Now that you've gotten
rid of him, all he needs to do is get rid of you, and he'll have no more
competition. Just watch as the walls close in...

---15. Zenim's Mansion

Zenim talks to a woman standing in the shadows. She interrupts his gloating to
tell him the hurry and get the Aura Ball. If he lets his guard down, he'll end up
just like Dogler...

You come to in a run-down shack owned by a boy named Borgie. The man standing next
to him is Killer, the thief the guards were talking about. It was Killer who
rescued you from Zenim's trap. He bounds off (through the wall?) without a word.

Borgie tells you about Killer's past. Killer was a ninja raised by Dogler. One
day, Killer was ordered by his master, Gilmarg, to assassinate Abaluda. However,
Killer has been having second thoughts. He's killed many people under their
orders, but what was it for? He doesn't want to kill anyone else. His master
orders him to go anyway. Killer makes it into Abaluda's bedroom, but decides he
can't kill an old man in his bed. Gilmarg had anticipated that, and sent some of
his soldiers to kill Killer if he didn't carry out his orders, but Killer avoids
them and escapes (through the wall again!)

You'll find the rest of the party in the other shacks. The house in the SE corner
has an underground passage leading to Zenim's mansion.

You'll come out of the tunnel near the mansion. Get past the guards and enter the
mansion through the front door. If the guards see you, you'll have to fight them.

When you get to Zenim's throneroom, the six statues come to life and merge into a
cerberus-like creature. Baboo's bacteria magic is the only kind that works against
it, and even that doesn't do much. Save your spells for healing and defense and
just bash the thing.

After beating the statue, go through the door in the NE and down the hall. You'll
have to fight the stone statues and the guards. You can take a look at Zenim's art
collection on the way. The pictures of himself and his mansion look way nicer than
the real thing. His painting of Dogler has an X painted over it.

Next you'll come to Zenim's library. Be sure to check all the bookshelves. There's
lots of stuff hidden inside. Among the highlights: Zenim's autobiography titled
"Evil Emperor Zenim: Evil is My Life". Zenim apparently uses his books like a
piggy-bank. One of the books has an interesting clue: Magic Armor is weak against
water.

One of the shelves has a book you can either pull or push on. Push on it to reveal
a staircase. It leads to a dungeon, where Zenim has locked up all his "guests".
One of the prisoners overheard one of Zenim's guards saying that the reason he
kept them there and fed them so much was so he could use them as sacrifices to
resurrect Fattobajah.

Go down the stairs in the SW corner and through the underground passage. You'll
come up again in a hall of mirrors. To get through this room, examine the mirrors.
In each hall, one mirror leads to the next hall. The other will have monsters.

There's a locked shed in the next underground tunnel. You won't have the key for
it, yet.

Go through the door behind the shed. You'll find Arzula guarding the rest of
Zenim's intended sacrificial victims. You'll have to fight him to free everyone
else. Water and electricity spells work nicely against him. You'll get Zenim's Key
after beating him. Use the key to unlock the dungeon.

On the other side of the tunnel you'll find another dungeon and more prisoners.
They tell you that Zenim has something called Magic Armor that keeps him from
taking damage in battle. He also has a magic book that he uses to create monsters.
A boy in the corner gives you a Water Pistol. You'll need this later.

On the top floor of the mansion, Killer and Zenim face off. Killer tries to attack
Zenim, but is knocked out by a lightning bolt. Zenim sees you and runs away.
You'll have to defeat two of his soldiers before you can follow.

Follow Zenim onto the roof. He'll put on his Magic Armor and the fight will begin.
While he has the Magic Armor, nothing will work against him. However, the armor is
weak against water. Use the Water Pistol the boy in the dungeon gave you to
neutralize the armor, then bash away.

After you beat him, he'll beg for forgiveness. He'll keep begging until you say
yes. Then he'll attack you anyway. Surprise, surprise. Fight him again. This time
you won't need the Water Pistol, though. He'll keep casting Megato until he runs
out of MP, so don't spare the healing spells.

Zenim falls off the roof and his magic book bursts into flames. Killer comes out
and congradulates you. He decides to join you to try and repay Shelldorado for all
the death he caused while working for Dogler. Before leaving for the Heroes'
Mansion, he tells you that Zenim hid the Aura Ball in an underground vault. The
key is probably on his body.

Search Zenim's body for the Vault Key, then go back to the locked she dyou saw in
the underground passage. Use the key to get in, and go down the stairs. Along with
several treasure chests, your Puka shell is there! Zenim must have found it after
you were attacked. The Aura Ball is inside the Puka Shell.

Ride the Puka shell outside. You now have a boat. It can't travel through deep
water, but it's better than nothing.

Items to find in Zenim's mansion: Magical Cube, Prayer Robe, Telepo Stone, Vitalin
A, Scat Mint, Vitalin All (2), Long Sword, Giant Hammer, Ring Mail (2), Zenim's
Key, Water Pistol, Vault Key, Hyponesque, Kamidanomin, Magic Drink, Poizunon,
25000P

One of the things you should have found in Zenim's mansion was the Hyponesque
herb. Go back to the Mask Tribe village and talk to the man standing to the right
of the tree. He'll take the Hyponesque and feed it to the tree. The leaves will
turn green again. Go to the top of the tree and talk to the man there. Several
birds will come perch on the branches. One of them will drop a Magic Drink.

---16. Pogu Village/Badler Volcano

This section can be done any time after getting the Puka shell. If your characters
are weak, you might want to leave this for later.

Pogu village is on an island with the volcano, in the middle of the island chain
on the eastern edge of the map. It is a prison village. This is where Bird was
stationed before coming to sandside. After he left, one of the inmates, a man
named Gilder, staged a rebellion. He and some other inmates fled to the volcano.
Until recently, Gilder was just an ordinary prisoner. But then he found a strange
shell and it changed him.

Items to find in Pogu village: Vitalin All, Panacea, Magical Cube

Badler Volcano is right next to Pogu village. You'll have to fight the inmates who
fled there with Gilder, but once you beat them they'll let you through.

You'll see jets of gas shooting from the ground in some places. Don't step in them
or they'll do damage.

At the end of the line, you'll have to fight Gilder. He's relatively weak against
water spells. After you beat him, you'll get the Earth Shell.

Items to find in Badler Volcano: Flare Knife, Fire Claws, Flare Jacket, Iron
Armor, Poyon Shield, Vitalin All, Protection Ring, Power Ring, Flare Boomerang,
Earth Shell

After beating Gilder, the prisoners in Pogu will have turned over a new leaf, and
Bird's soldiers will have recovered.

And dammit, if anyone knows where Pogu's stamp card is, please tell me!

---17. Mosswood/Pearl Island

Mosswood is east of Sandra, over the ocean. It's a village of woodcutters, built
in a tree.

To the north is Storm Mountain, home of the Storm Bird. If you have Tokia in your
party, she will react to the news.

The town elder, Tree, is a master seamtress. If you bring her materials, she can
make you clothes. See the "C" helper section for what she can make.

Pearl island is east of Mosswood. Evell, one of the Four Sisters lives here. She's
busy with her research and won't want to talk to you. If you don't have Colicott's
diary, go back to Sandra and get it. Bring the diary to Evell and have her read
it. She decides that the various strange things that have been happening all over
Shelldorado must have something to do with the meteor that fell. She tells you
that to get to Blizzaland to meet Great Gnome, you'll have to go over Storm
Mountain. But Storm Mountain is plagued by never-ending storms, and the lightning
is too heavy for anyone to get through. Tree in Mosswood can make clothes that can
deflect the lightning.

Evell's bath can restore HP and MP.

Items to find in Pearl Island: Lightbulb, Again Drop, Angel's Tear

---18. Sawasa Forest

Talk to Tree. She tells you she can't make the clothing you need without Eleki
herbs from the forest in the south. Head SE past Pearl Island to Sawasa forest.

Many trees have holes in them. Be sure to search all of them. Some holes will be
too small for you to get through. Use Myan to search those.

You'll find small green plants growing on the ground. These are the Eleki herbs.

One tree looks like it has someone living in it.

Once you've picked some herbs, bring them back to Tree and she will make you a
Lightning Umbrella.

Items to find in Sawasa forest: Iron Armor, Throwing Knife, Panacea, Magic Drink,
Vitalin All (2), Caprico Drink, Revival Herb, Eleki Herb, 1000P

---19. Storm Mountain

Storm Mountain is NE of Pearl Island. Be sure you've gotten a Lightning Umbrella
from Tree, otherwise the lightning will keep you from climbing the mountain.

You'll have to use Quick to get to some parts of the mountain. About halfway up
the mountain is a cave with a spring that restores your HP and MP.

At the top of the mountain, you'll have to find the Storm Bird. Magic isn't very
effective against it. Earth and Wind spells don't work at all. Everything else
does about half the usual damage. Over the course of the battle, the bird will
capture your companions. If you take too long, the hero will end up fighting
alone. You'll get them back after the battle, though.

Items to find on Storm Mountain: Caprico Drink, Storm Knife, Metal Saucer, Jewel
Coat, Vitalin All, Revival Herb, Magical Cube, Speed Breastplate, Bird Buckler,
Star Knife

---20. Blizzaland (Great Gnome's house, Shaberon Cave, Iceman Villag)

Great Gnome's house is NW of Storm Mountain. Myan's sister, Sara is there with
Great Gnome. Great Gnome, however, is not doing too well. He's sick and bedridden.
You tell him your story and he agrees that something awful must have happened in
Dorado City. The underground passage to Dorado City is blocked so no one can get
inside. Great Gnome is the only one who can open it, but he's too sick to leave.
He asks you to go to Iceman Village in the north to get medicine for him.

Items to find in Great Gnome's house: Star Knife, Cosmo Shield, Shaking Herb, Deep
Metal, Phantom Orb, Medicine Ingredient 2, Iron Scrap, Wing Boots

To get to Iceman Village, you have to go through Shaberon cave, directly north of
Storm Mountain. When you get to the other side of the cave, a crack suddenly
appears in the Aura Ball. Hmm, why could an Aura Ball be that fragile?

Items to find in Shaberon Cave: Ice Javelin, Hide Cape, Ice Shield, Full Shield,
Heatproof Cape, Wing Boots, Shell Shield

When you get to Iceman Village, talk to the white bird to restore your HP and MP.

The giant stone heads are the "inhabitants" of Iceman Village. In order to make a
Healing Drop for Great Gnome, they need ingredients. What they need (from right to
left): Eyedrop, Dororo Comb, Telepo Stone, Dragon Wing, Hot Curry. Once you've
given them all five ingredients, they'll make you a Healing Drop.

Take the Healing Drop back to Great Gnome's house and give it to him. He'll
recover somewhat- not enough to get out of bed, but enough to give you what you
need to open the passage to Dorado City. He gives you a Heat Bomber, which will
melt the snow around the tunnel.

---21. Secret Tunnel

Head NW from Great Gnome's house to the entrance to the secret tunnel. When you
get there, you throw the Heat Bomber into the snowdrift, which melts it instantly.

Soon after you go inside, the Aura Ball starts flashing. You'd better get it to
Dorado City quick!

The small circles you see on the walls activate bridges. Step on them to get
across the bridge. You'll need to use these to get some of the treasure chests.

The dragon mark on the walls on the first floor hides a staircase. There is also a
small hole in the wall that Myan can investigate.

A little farther down the tunnel, the Aura Ball... hatches? A strange robot-like
creature emerges from the ball. It has no idea where or even who it is, but it
decides you're its master and insists on going with you. It will ask you to give
it a name. The default name is Robot. Name it something a little more original.
Depending on who you brought with you, they'll react differently. The general gist
of the conversation is that what you thought was an Aura Ball was something else
entirely, but they don't know what. Even so, they all want to let the robot tag
along.

A switch on the floor will raise a wall that acts like a bridge.

You'll come to a door leading to a room with 9 treasure chests. A voice tells you
to open them in clockwise order. Start at the middle left chest (at the 9 o'clock
position) and open the chests open the edge in clockwise order, then the center
one. If you opened them in the right order, the Rainbow Armor will be in the
middle chest.

You'll here someone call for help. The call is coming from the house to the west.
Climb onto the wall to get to it. When you get to it, you'll see an old woman
being chased by a monster. Enter the house by the door on the second floor, go up
to the roof and kill the monster.

The old woman turns out to be Colicott, the missing member of the Four Sisters.
According to her, several meteors fell on Dorado City. Metal monsters emerged from
the meteors and turned people into coccoons, including the King. They took the
coccoons onto a flying ship and disappeared. And on top of that Fattobajah has
reawakened!

Colicott turns to leave for Great Gnome's house, but stops when she sees your
robot. It's the same as the ones that attacked Dorado City. Your friends come to
the robot's defense and Colicott back off. She gives the robot a red hat to make
it not look like such a monster. With that, Colicott teleports to Great Gnome's
house to try to find a way to fight Fattobajah.

The fountain in front of the house restores HP and MP.

The room south of Colicott's house has a star mark on the floor. Step on it to get
to the elevator to Dorado City.

Items to find in the Secret Tunnel: Magical Staff, Aqua Beaut, Protect Oil (2),
Iron Armor, EnerRing, Again Drop, Fancy Hat, Crystal Cross, Panacea, Wing Boots,
Magic Drink (2), Vitalin A, Magic Toga, Martial-arts Gi, Hayate Short Sword,
Vaccine (2), Rainbow Armor, Vitalin All, Hayate Clothes, Telepo Stone, Sword Room
Key, 5000P

---22. Dorado City

When you get to Dorado City, you find it in ruins. The meteors and the monsters
that came from them have destroyed most of the buildings. The people who managed
to avoid being turned into coccoons are living in shacks. There's a huge hole in
the middle of the city from where Fattobajah escaped.

The castle is just north of the hole. Check the side entrance before going through
the front. The inside of the castle is covered in pinkish goo. The goo is part of
a barrier set up by Fattobajah. According to a soldier, if they had the Sword of
Love and the Combo-Shell, they could break the barrier. Supposedly, the Sword of
Love is somewhere in the castle. The Advisor waiting in the back of the castle
tells you the Sword of Love is in the Dragon Room below the castle, but no one
knows how to get there.

A bookshelf on the second floor has a book with this message: "When the winged
ones face each other, the way to the Sword of Love will open".

Go up to the second floor, into the center part of the castle, and back down to
the first floor. On the bottom floor are four dragon statues, and a button on the
north wall. Press the button to reveal a door. Behind the door is a lever. Pull
the lever and go back to the statues. They will all turn to face the center of the
room, revealing a staircase.

In the next room, use the Sword Room Key to open the door. You should have found
this in the underground tunnel to Dorado City.

Behind the door is the Sword of Love. Once you remove it, you hear a voice. "With
the help of a skilled blacksmith, the Sword of Love will grow along with you." So
now you have the Sword of Love. All you need is the Combo-Shell.

Don't forget to check the treasure rooms in the towers. Lots of loot to find!

Items to find in Dorado Castle: Magic Earring (2), Demon King's Mustache, Flush
Seed, Magic Drink, Iron Rod, Prayer Robe (2), Iron Shield, Vitalin All (2), Star
Knife, Medicine Ingredient 2, Tasseled Spear, Tremor Hammer, Hayate Clothes,
Magical Cube, Crystal Claw, Jewel Shield, Fairy Medicine, Flare Breastplate,
Vaccine, Rainbow Armor, Magic Bow, Dark Shuttle, Magic Half, EnerRing, Wing Boots,
Lightbulb, Sword of Love

---23. The Combo-Shell

Go to Great Gnome's house. Colicott will be there waiting for you. She wakes up
Great Gnome and tells him about Dorado City. She asks if there is a way to defeat
Fattobajah without an Aura Ball. Great Gnome says that there is a way, but you'll
need the forur legendary Shells. A long time ago, before Fattobajah came,
Shelldorado was overrun by monsters. A great sage from the Shell-beast tribe chose
his 4 best warriors and gave them all shells imbued with aura power. They fought
to the death to save Shelldorado, and all that ultimately remained of them were
the four Shells. One, the Fire Shell, became the bridge between Shelldorado and
your dimension. The other three remained in the Shell-beast village. Great Gnome
gives you the Shell Map, which shows the locations of the four shells. Colicott
tells you that if a shells appears to be in an ocean or lake, it means a fish has
swallowed the Shell, and you'll need a skilled fisherman to retrieve it.

The Water Shell is in the Seaman Temple, described in section 9. The Earth Shell
is in Badler Volcano, described in section 16. If you haven't gotten them yet, go
get them now.

According to the Shell Map, the Air Shell is located in a lake just north of
Lamille. Looks like you'll be needing that fisherman.

Go to Manary. If you go see Laban, the blacksmith, he will recognize the Sword of
Love immediately (his grandfather signed it). He'll tell you to come back if you
defeat Fattobajah.

The best fisherman in Manary is Genji. You'll find him on the east side of town,
with his brand-new boat. Tell him your story, and he'll join as a "B" helper.
Whenever you're near water, you can call Genji to fish for you. You never know
what he might bring up.

Go back to the lake and call Genji (yes, I know his boat just traveled overland.
When he said his boat could sail through anything, he MEANT IT). He'll catch a
fish, and inside will be Kupikupi! Kupikupi jumped into the lake to find the Air
Shell, but was swallowed with it! He gives you the Air Shell and joins you.

Once you have all four Shells, go see Great Gnome again. He will merge the four
Shells in the Combo-Shell.

---24. Fattobajah

Go back to the throne room in Dorado Castle. Before, when you tried to get close
to the throne, a barrier stopped you. This time, you use the Sword of Love to
break it. A hole opens in the floor and Fattobajah himself appears. He tells you
how before he was sealed away by the previous Fire Shell Hero, he stored some of
his power in the Aura Balls and sent them into space to prepare for his
reawakening. Now he says he's found some new servants, and they have made him
stronger them before.

The battle starts. Use the Combo-Shell on him first, otherwise nothing you do will
damage him. He's resistant to all magic types. They'll only do about half the
damage they should. If your characters are strong enough fighters, forget the
spells entirely.
After a couple of rounds, he'll transform. In this form, he casts Hospi every time
he's attacked. If a character can't do at least 30 HP of damage, have them defend
or heal other characters. Otherwise, they'll actually make him gain HP. Defeat
this form and the battle is over.

Fattobajah isn't quite dead, yet. He promises revenge, saying that the one who
revived him is still heading for Shelldorado. As your friends are rejoicing, the
flying ship breaks through the castle ceiling and pulls Fattobajah inside. You
hear a voice: "My name is Gab Farr. I am the one who resurrected Fattobajah.
Listen, interfering ones. Do you want to see the face of Death so badly? If so...
I will teach you the fear of death."

Gab Farr's ship flies into orbit and fires a beam down at the ground. It literally
tears the earth in two, splitting continents apart...

---25. Dorado City, part 2

Several days pass after your fight with Fattobajah. Evell, Milmy and Marge all
gather on Dorado City. Colicott and Great Gnome arrive shortly thereafter. They're
worried about Gab Farr. Just who is he and what does he want? The rest of the
party members have gathered at Dorado City's Heroes' Mansion. Great Gnome dubs
your group the "Dorado Guard" and charges you with finding out more about Gab
Farr. He also tells you that Dr. Deep, the scientist, may be able to tell you more
about the robot you found. Evell shows you to Dr. Deep's house.

When they get there, Evell wants you to take the lead. One of the scientists tells
you he heard a rumor that Evell and Dr. Deep were a couple a long time ago, but
broke up.

Talk to the scientists at the dock, then in the back room, then go back to the
dock. Dr. Deep will be there waiting. His assistant, Pipoo, took his experimental
submarine out for a test run and hasn't come back yet. Evell shows him the robot,
and he excitedly agrees to study it. Deep takes you to the back room and examines
the robot. He finds it to be made with technology far beyond theirs. Whoever made
the robot must be from another planet.

Deep hooks the robot up to one of his machines in order to take a look at its
memory. It remembers standing with a group of other robots, and hearing a voice
ordering it to find the "Valley of Eternity". There's some kind of ultimate energy
there, and the owner of the voice wants it. The inhabitants of Shelldorado are
either to be turned into monsters or used as food. Any creature that can't be used
for either purpose is to be killed. Finally, the owner of the voice identifies
himself as Gab Farr, Emperor of Space.

Evell figures that the "ultimate energy" Gab Farr is after is the Aura Balls, and
runs ro tell Great Gnome. The only thing to do is to get the Aura Balls before Gab
Farr can find them. They've been sealed away, and only the Combo-Shell can break
the seal. To get them, you'll need to find the Aura Dragon, who is said to be
sleeping on the lost continent, the Valley of Eternity. Supposedly, the way to the
lost continent can be found on Guardian Island to the SW.
Milmy gives you a letter from Laban, telling you to come see him about the Sword
of Love. Now that you've defeated Fattobajah, he can reforge it. He can reforge it
several times during the game. Check Laban's entry in the character section for
when.
Marge tells you that refugees from towns that were destroyed by the ship have
gathered in Dorado City.
Evell tells you that the Combo-Shell has the ability to call the four Shell
Dragons, Wind Dragon, Aqua Dragon, Land Dragon and Red Dragon. If you find the
Shell Dragons, they will help you.
Colicott gives the robot some new clothes. Yes, that was supposed to make it look
better. Really.

Talk to the man in green in the NE part of the first floor, and he'll give you
10000P. A man in one of the lower rooms will give you 200P. A boy on the second
floor gives you 50P. The door in the room with the save point is now open. There's
a chest containing a Twin Saucer inside.

Your companions are waiting for you in the new Heroes' Mansion. The first time you
go in, Tokia and Kirara will get into an argument over who's cuter. Magi comes to
break them up, saying that in "2 or 3" years, after she "fills out", Tokia will be
a sexy girl, and that Kirara probably already has men falling over her anyway.
...Sigh. More proof that this game was really aimed at dirty old men.

You'll find Kushura wandering around Dorado City. She encourages you to keep
fighting, because as long as you have friends, you're strong.

---26. The submarine

To get to Guardian island, you'll need a submarine. Go see Dr. Deep about the
submarine he built. Unfortunately, it seems Pipoo still hasn't brought the
submarine back.

If you need to know about something in the ocean, the Seaman people are the ones
to ask. Go to the Seaman Temple. The bridge to Westside has been fixed. You can
walk, or you can warp. You may notice that the land looks a little different. Gab
Farr's beam caused a huge flood, submerging most of the continent. Most of the
towns are now underwater (hope you found those stamp cards!)

The Seaman people have cleared away some of the rocks that were littering their
village. The tunnel to the nearby lagoon is now open.

The first room in the tunnel is filled with statues. Each of the statues in the
next room is marked with a different letter. A sign on one side reads "Cast the
spell of Goma". A sign on the other side reads "Ma-Go-Ke-Ra-Hi". This is the clue,
but it's written backwards. Pull the switches on the statues marked with "Hi",
"Ra", "Ke", "Go" and "Ma" (It translates as "Open, Goma"). For those who don't
read hiragana, the order is:
"Hi": Top row, far right
"Ra": Middle row, far left
"Ke": Top rop, second from right
"Go": Bottom row, far right
"Ma": Top row, far left

If you do it right, the door at the wnd of the hall will open.

When you exit the tunnel, you'll be in the lagoon. You'll see a boat pull up and
some monster run into the nearby cave. The boat is Dr. Deep's missing submarine.
As you go to retake it, one of the monsters comes out of the cave. It seems they
didn't bother to install a toilet in their hideout (Blech!). He'll alert his
friends, and you'll have to fight your way past them.

Enter the submarine. The monsters' boss, Banuda, is on the bottom floor. He's
trying to hold Pipoo as a hostage, but he's not exactly cooperating. Eventually
he'll give up the hostage idea and just fight. Electricity spells work best
against him. Water spells don't work at all.

After you defeat Banuda, you free Pipoo. Unfortunately, the submarine's pilot was
killed by the monsters and he doesn't know how to operate it. The robot acts as
the pilot instead.

Dr. Deep is glad to get his submarine back, but rips Pipoo a new one for being
late. He decides to let you use the submarine. Since you won't need the Puka shell
any more, he decides to study it. Pipoo's robot dog, Pochi comes to see Pipoo and
immediately takes a liking to the robot. As thanks for saving him, Pipoo lets you
use Pochi. Pochi joins as a "B" helper. Pochi can find items hidden underground.

How to use the submarine: Steer it normally. When in deep water, press the A
button to dive. Press the A button again the surface or dive deeper. When you
press the A button, one or two arrows will appear. Select the one you want and
press A again. If the down arrown doesn't appear, there's nowhere to go but up.
Press the B button to shoot a torpedo. Use torpedos to open blocked caves. You can
enter some towns and dungeons underwater. You might want to go explore some of the
submerged towns.

Items to find on the submarine: Caprico Drink, Magical Power, Vitalin All,
Throwing Knife, Poizunon, Black Needle

---27. Guardian Island

Guardian Island is a tiny island in the SW corner of the map. The Guardian Tribe
lives there. Since ancient times, the tribe had guarded the shrine there, but no
one has ever been inside the shrine. Recently, they found a girl unconscious on
the beach. As you might guess, the girl is Kushura. How'd she get here from Dorado
City?

Recently a hole has appeared in the wall of the shrine. According to Titica, the
elder, the hole is supposed to appear just before the ones who are to enter the
shrine come to the village. Since you have the Combo-shell, you are the ones.
Unfortuneately, he doesn't know anything about the Valley of Eternity. Titica will
give you the Holy Stone, which will open the door to the shrine.

Put the Holy Stone into the hole in the shrine's wall. The ground behind you will
lower, revealing a doorway.

In order to get to some parts of the Shrine, you'll need to move the corridors
themselves. Step on the buttons on the floor to slide the corridors over.

In the first hallway, there is a secret passage in the wall by the button on the
eastern side, leading into the dragon statue.

Some rooms have switches on the floor that activate staircases.

On the bottom floor is the strange hole the elder spoke of. It looks like you! The
hole sucks you into it, and the walls breaks away to reveal a door. Your friends
follow you inside. Search the fiery altar at the north side of the room. Red
Dragon appears from inside the flames. He tells you that if you want to go to the
Valley of Eternity, find the other three Shell Dragons and return to him. He marks
the locations of the other dragons on your Shell Map. A wap point appears behind
you. It will take you back to the surface.

Items to find in Guardian Shrine: Vitalin A, Poyon Armor, Shell Armor, Fire
Shield, BB Gun Pellet, Dragon Bow, Vitalin All, Fire Armor, Magical Cube, Black
Needle, Magma Staff, Fire Ring, Ninja Sword, Killer Spear, Wooden Doll, Revival
Water

---28. Landon Volcano

You can go after the dragons in any order, not necessarily the one I list them in.

Landon Volcano is accessible from an underwater cave in the NE corner of the map.
Examine the dragon statue to open the way in.

Be careful walking in the lava, as it will do damage. You'll have to walk through
some of it, though. Once you get the Magma Stone on the bottom level, you can walk
over lava without damage.

North of the save point is a cliff with lava running down in. There's a door
hidden behind the lava.

At the NE corner of the lava lake is a statue that wil restore HP and MP. There's
another door in the lava falls on the north side.

When you get to the room where Land Dragon is, the Magma Stone will create a path
across the lava for you.

You'll have to fight Land Dragon before he'll join you. He's weak against water
and strong against air. Fire, Earth and Bacteria spells don't work at all.

After you beat Land Dragon, you'll be able to summon him in battle. A new battle
icon, "Shell", is added to the list. Use the "Shell" command to call the Shell
Dragons who have joined you.

Items to find in Landon Volcano: Atlas Hammer, Bactero Capsule, Magma Stone,
Vitalin All (3), Shadow Breastplate, Kupikupi Shield, Dyna Mail, Black Needle,
Scat Mint, Wolf Clothes

---29. Aquan Cave

You get to Aquan Cave through an underwater passage north of Little Heaven,
between two islands. At first, the door won't be visible (and it'll stay that way
if you haven't been to Guardian Island, yet), but the door will appear once you
get close enough.

Some "walls" are really just pillars wil waterfalls between them, and can be
walked through normally. The round things on the floor are whirlpools, and will
transport you to another part of the dungeon. This dungeon is pretty
straightforward. Other than a secret tunnel or two, there's not much you should
need help on.

At the top floor, you have to fight Aqua Dragon. Aqua Dragon is weak against
Electricity and immune to Fire, Earth and Water. He always attacks the person at
the back of the party, so put someone tough there.

Items to find in Aquan Cave: Vitalin All (3), Aqua Robe, Ice Whip, Fairy Medicine,
Iron Pot, Lucky Mail, Gigabanga Ball, Megabazooka, Lucky Shield, Revival Herb,
Protect Oil, Net, Again Drop

---30. Wind Tower

Wind Tower is on an island in the SE corner of the map.

There's literally nothing here except stairs and treasure chests. Nothing to write
for this section!

At the top of the tower, you fight Wind Dragon. Go to the northern edge of the
roof and he'll appear. He's very weak against Electric spells. He's immune to
Earth spells. Air spells actually heal him. Having a good spellcaster along would
be handy- he's very fast, and dodges physical attacks easily. However, he has less
HP than the other dragons.

Items to find in Wind Tower: Magical Cube (2), Wind Lancer, Aero Breastplate,
Magic Drink, Vitalin All, Aura Cape, Exploding Ball, Kupikupi Cape, Shadow Wrist

---32. Guardian Island, part 2

Once Land Dragon, Aqua Dragon and Wind Dragon have joined you, go back to Guardian
Island. When you get there, Kushura will be back on her feet, but the Guardian
people are all dead! Kushura tells you that when she awakened, she found the
village in ruins. Monsters like the ones that attacked Dorado City came and killed
all the villagers. She says she must go to the Valley of Eternity and asks you to
take her with you.

Go see Red Dragon. Use the warp point, so you don't have to go through the whole
dungeon. You'll have to fight Red Dragon before he'll tell you about the Valley of
Eternity. He's weak against Water, strong against Wind and Electricity, and immune
to Fire.

After you beat him, Red Dragon tells you about the Valley of Eternity. It lies
deep in the earth, below even the ocean. The fifth dragon, the Great Shell Dragon,
can guide you there. You can meet him if you go to the Shell-beasts' island.

After hearing this, you leave Red Dragon's cave and go back to the Guardians'
village... or do you? When you exit the cave, you find yourself on board the
flying ship. Kushura reveals her true identity as Gujeau, Gab Farr's daughter. She
was the woman Dogler and Zenim were talking with. Gab Farr had ordered her to keep
tabs on you. Gujeau captures you in order to take you back to Gab Farr's Bio Base,
and ejects the others from the ship. The robot tries to protect you. Gujeau
doesn't understand why, since it wasn't programmed to have emotions. She dumps him
out of the ship anyway.

The robot summons the submarine and takes everyone back to Dorado City. Once your
friends tell Great Gnome what happened, he tells you to decide who will rescue you
and come to see him. He and the Four Sisters can raise 4 characters to level 40.
If you've kept the same characters for the whole game, they're probably there
already, though.

---33. Chameleon Village

Chameleon Village is on the large land mass in the SW part of the map, east of
Guardian Island. The Chameleon Clan lives here. They raise frogs for food.

Apparently, something bright and sparkly recently landed somewhere east of the
village. However, the path to the east has been blocked by giant vines from the
poisonous Raffla flowers. If they had a Gromler Bug, it could eat through the
vines in an instant. Gromler Bugs are supposed to be extinct, but they laid their
eggs in glaciers. There are still glaciers in the far northern parts of
Shelldorado. Perhaps there are stll fossilized Gromler eggs.

The hot spring in the NE corner will cure poison and curses.

One of the Chameleons is hiding in the SE corner of the tadpole room (2nd cave
from the left). If you find him, he'll give you a Chameleon Knife.

The village elder, Nurunut, lives in the large cave in the NW corner. According to
her, they used to grow Gromler bugs in that very cave. She says that the coldest
place in Shelldorado is Coldburn, in the north. If there are any Gromler eggs left
to be found, they should be there.

---34. Ice Cave

Coldburn is a small island in the far northern part of the map. The Ice Cave is
just behind the castle. If you're wondering how to get to it, enter the castle,
then exit again. You'll be able to walk right "over" the castle to the cave.

When you come to what looks like a dead end, check the walls. The ice is thin in
some places, and can be broken through.

Near the save point, you fight Whitefight, Shelldorado's version of the Abominable
Snowman. He's resistant to all forms of magic, so don't waste your MP. After you
beat him, a rope will drop into the hole, and you can continue further into the
cave.

At the bottom of the cave is a giant block of ice with a Gromler egg frozen
inside.

Items to find in Ice Cave: Magic Drink, Ice Boomerang, Revival Herb, Spot Cooler,
Snowstorm Ball, Telepo Stone, Gigahyde Ball, Ice Staff, Mighty Magic, Aurora
Beaut, Flush Seed

---35. The Gromler bug

Take the egg back to Chameleon Village and give it to Nurunut. She puts it in the
sacred spring and tells you to leave it with them for a while until it hatches.

Leave the village and go back in. All the Chameleon people will be in Nurunut's
cave, praying for the egg to hatch. Talk to Nurunut. The egg will suddenly grow
and flash, then a large Gromler bug will hatch from it.

Everyone piles onto the Gromler's back (Nurunut assures you it's tame), and it
takes you to where the vines have grown over the road. The Gromler goes on a
feeding frenzy and eats through the vines. When it's full, it spins itself a
cocoon and goes to sleep.

Meanwhile, at Gab Farr's HQ, Gab Farr gloats to Gujeau over his apparently
impending victory. Now that the Fire Shell Hero is out of the way, all that's left
is to get the Combo-shell and head for Shell-beast Island. However, Gujeau would
rather turn you into one of Gab Farr's henchmen than kill you outright. Gab Farr
is amused that Gujeau seems to have taken a liking to you, but agrees to her plan.
Gujeau returns to the Bio-base and asks you to join her willingly. Of course you
refuse. Gujeau can't figure out how you can keep resisting her this long. Maybe
this is what the humans call "friendship", she wonders. Since you won't join
willingly, Gujeau decides to turn you into one of her mutants. Then you'll have no
choice.

---36. Bio-Base

Head NE over the vines to the Bio-Base.

The moving tentacles sticking out of the floor are poisonus. Don't walk on them.

On the seconds floor, you have to fight Ant King, one of Gujeau's underlings, to
continue. Before you fight him, Ant King explains that the Raffla flowers were
created by Gujeau to suck energy from the earth. The energy is stored in capsules
which are later delivered to Gab Farr.

In the cage behind where Ant King was standing are some of the people who were
carried off in cocoons. They've become part of the Bio-Base itself, being used for
their energy. Unfortunately, there may be no way to save them, since if the Bio-
base and their cocoons die, so will they.

The first room on the third floor has two hidden doors, one on either side. Check
the walls for irregularities. The people in this room have been hooked up to the
Bio-Base longer then the people below. They've been almost completely absorbed,
and can hardly speak.

The people on the fourth floor have completely merged with their cocoons. They're
done for.

Only a few people on the fifth floor can still speak, but they give you some
clues- magic doesn't work on Gujeau, and the real path is hidden. There are three
elevators, but they lead nowhere. The door you want is hidden behind the middle
elevator.

On the top floor, you find Gujeau. She still can't understand why everyone,
especially the robot, who's not supposed to have emotions at all, wants to save
the Hero so much. The concepts of love and friendship are completely alien to her.

She releases the monsters from the two cylinders beside you. Kill the one on the
right first. He knows healing spells, including one that revives and completely
heals the other monster.

Next you fight Gujeau. Magic doesn't work at all on her, so be sure you've brought
some good fighters.

After the defeat her, she runs away. The robot opens the cylinder and frees the
Hero. The Hero will rejoin the party, and you'll have to choose who to send back
to the Heroes' Mansion.

After you leave the Bio-Base, the Gromler bug hatches out of its cocoon. It an
fly, and it's big enough for everyone to ride on. If you ride it, you should be
able to get to Shell-beast Island, hopefully before Gab Farr does. The robot
leaves to take the submarine back to Dorado City, so Dr. Deep can refit it to be
able to dive deep enough to get to Gab Farr's base.

Items to find in Bio-Base: Vitalin All (2), Cosmo Mail, Aurora Dress, Holy Robe,
Magic Drink, Dragon Breastplate, Tropical Toga, Beast Breastplate, Stealth Mail,
Steel Lid

---37. Shell-beast Island again

Shell-beast island is in roughly the center of the map.

One of the Shell-beast tells you about the Elder's brother, who was a powerful
summoner, and intended to make Fattobajah himself one of his summoned beasts, but
disappeared. Sounds familiar...

The two Shell-beast who were talking of opening a store have open a Weapon and
Armor shop. Another Shell-beast has opened an item shop.

Go see the elder and tell him what's happened. He tells you that to call the Great
Shell Dragon, stand by the altar and hold up the shell. Go to the altar. The
Combo-shell automatically calls the Great Shell Dragon, who appears in the
waterfall. He tells you that the only way to get to the Valley of Eternity is to
go through the underground passage in the volcano and use the "Shell-Shell"
vehicle found there. The Great Shell Dragon decides to join you. Now you can
summon him in battle just like the other four. The giant shell in the waterfall
disappears, revealing a passage into the volcano.

Just then, the ground shakes. Gab Farr's robots have arrived in the village. The
elder decides it's time to use their secret weapon, the Shellfish Tank. The tank
makes short work of the robots. The elder tells you to get going to the Valley of
Eternity, and they'll hold off Gab Farr here.

---38. Volcano Cavern

As you enter the cavern, the automated defense systems are activated. Something
inside must have sensed the attack on Shell-beast Island.

When you get to the room filled with lava, there's a pool that will restore HP and
MP. In order to open the stone door, you'll need to press the large stone button.
After that, you'll have to walk across the lava. You do still have the Magma Stone
from Landon Cave, right?

The "Shell-Shell" is in the next room. Search the stone slab in front of it, and
you'll hear a voice, "Come with me and follow my lead. If you do so, the path will
open, and the fire of life will burn again in the lost land....You, the chosen
one, the destined one..."

The Shell-Shell will activate. Get on board. It will tunnel its way under the sea,
finally arriving in an underground temple.

Items to find in Volcano Cavern: Protection Staff, Vitalin All, Rainbow Boomerang,
Magic Drink, Moonlight Bow

---39. Temple

Talk to the robot on the red carpet. After it recognizes you as the Fire Shell
Hero, it will start a hologram message. The person in the message identifies
him(her?)self as the one who built the temple and sealed the Aura Balls. He knew
that another Shell Hero would come someday, so he left this robot to give them
this message. After they discovered Aura Stone and figured out how to use its
energy, they developed a way to concentrate that energy into a smaller container,
an Aura Ball. Their civilization thrived using that energy. Then one day, they
realized that such energy could be a powerful weapon if it fell into evil hands.
Afraid of this, they abandoned all Aura Ball technology, and created the lost
continent and this temple to seal them away. If you want to get to the lost
continent, you have to find the Master Fire in this temple.

As always, drinking from the fountains restores HP and MP.

In the NW corner is a room with three chests and a robot. The robot tells you to
open them starting with the farthest one. Start with the far right (farthest from
the robot).

Also in the NW corner is a room with a chest on a ledge, apparently out of reach.
Look for a secret passage in the western wall that leads to it.

On the eastern side of the temple is one of Ratter clan who live in the temple.
Her son's gotten lost. The boy is in a hidden room off of the western waterway.
Bring him back to his mother and she'll give you the Blue Key.

In order to get through the temple, you'll need to find the Oil, Gunpowder, Red
Key and White Key. The Oil is in an unlocked room in the NE corner. The White Key
is in the room with the ledge in the NW corner. The Red Key is in one of the
waterways, which you get to from a room on the western side.

Use the Red Key to open a door in the NE corner, and follow the waterway to get
the Gunpowder. Near where the waterway passes under the bridge, there is a secret
tunnel to the west.

Use the White Key to get into a room in the NW corner. Inside is a robot that has
rusted so much it can't move. Use the Oil on it. The robot's job is to make
Dynamite, but it can't make it without Gunpowder. Give it the Gunpowder and it
will give you the Dynamite.

To open the door in the center of the temple, press the 1st and 4th switches, then
stand on the square mark in front of the door. The chest inside contains the Omega
Mail.

Once you have the Dynamite, go through the waterway to the room in the far south,
where the door is blocked by a large room. Use the Dynamite to blow up the rock.
The chests contains the Master Fire.

Bring the Master Fire to the robot by the entrance. It will open the way to the
Lost Continent.

Items to find in the Temple: Revival Water, Oil, Large Belt, Revival Herb, Rainbow
Ring, Bandit Shoes, Vitalin All, White Key, Medicine Ingredient 2, Magic Drink,
Red Key, Omega Mail, Gunpowder, Blue Key, Sun Hat, Dynamite, Master Fire

---40. Lost Continent

Ride the carpet down to the Lost Continent.

Talk to the robot in front of you. It will heal you and show another message from
the Lost Continent's creator. The building where you are now is Sentor Square.
There are two other towns, Varnos to the east and Gatas to the west. In order to
get to the Valley of Eternity, you need to find the spells hidden in the two
towns.

The stone faces on the walls are doors leading to rooms inside the pyramid. To get
to some of the chests, you'll need to go down the stairs in these rooms after
pressing the buttons near the chest.

When you get to the bottom of Sentor Square, monsters drop from the sky. The
leader identifies herself as Queen Anty, one of Gab Farr's warriors. She runs off
to find the Aura Ball and leaves her underlings to take care of you.

Varnos is on an island southeast of Sentor Square. Head SW to the stairs into the
water, and walk through the water to Varnos.

The robot in front of the building can heal you, or sell you items. He sells Smoke
Balls, Star Knives, Mighty Magic and Magical Cube.

The ancients guarded their spells well. Once inside the building, you'll have to
fight on every step until you reach the dais. The enemies there are harder than
the ones on the map, but not by too much.

Gatas is southwest of Sentor. The robot near the entrance tells you that the
people here have long since died out. All that remains are the robots, and the
traps set to protect the Valley of Eternity. You'll have to fight on every step
here, too.

Once you have both the Open Spell V and Open Spell G, you can open the door to the
Valley of Eternity.

Items to find in Sentor Square: Wonder Ring, Strange Hat, Magic Pot, Dragon Armor,
Magic Half (2)

Items to find in Varnos: Rainbow Ring, Open Spell V

Items to find in Gatas: Open Spell G

Items to find on the Lost Continent map: Ancient Short Sword, Omega Mail, Bandit
Shoes, Giant Belt

----41. Valley of Eternity

The gate to the Valley of Eternity is at the far north of the Lost Continent. When
you get there, you'll find Queen Anty trying unsuccessfully to open the door. She
is surprised to find you still alive. When she sees that you have the spells to
open the door, she attacks.

Queen Anty is weak against fire and bacteria, and strong against wind and thunder.
When you beat her, there's a chance she might drop an Aurora Beaut.

After beating Queen Anty, say the two spells in front of the stone markers.
Varnos' is on the right, Gatas' is on the left. In order to learn the spells, read
the two scrolls you found. Search the stone pillar and it will ask you to enter
the spell. Enter them just like when you entered your name.

Varnos' spell is "Supururubaoora". If you don't read katakana, here's the order:
"CH" (to switch from hiragana to katakana)
"Su"- 3rd row, 3rd from left
"Pu"- 6th row, 3rd from left; then 6th row, 4th from right
"Ru"- 2nd row, 3rd from right
"Ru"- Again
"Ba"- 6th row, far left; then 6th row, 5th from right
"Oo"- 1st row, 5th from left; then 6th row, 3rd from right
"Ra"- 2nd row, 5th from right
"END"

Gatas' spell is "Gadaburudaoora". If you don't read katakana, here's the order:
"CH" (to switch from hiragana to katakana)
"Ga"- 2nd row, far left; then 6th row, 5th from right
"Da"- 4th row, far left; then 6th row, 5th from right

If you enter the spell correctly, the pillar will start to sparkle. Once both
spells are entered, the door will open.

Go down the staircase. Be sure to check the rooms behind the staircase for some
chests.

At the bottom of the stairs is a waterfall. As you approach, the waterfall parts
and reveals Aura Dragon. Aura Dragon won't let you have the Aura Balls until
you've proven yourself worthy, and to do that, you must fight him. Aura Dragon is
strong against all types of magic. Save your MP for healing. If you have any
characters who know Powered, use it. Physical attacks are the only thing that
works well here. This might seem like an easy fight, but Aura Dragon can cast Last
Rainbow (Tokia's spell). It'll do serious damage to your party and restore 5000 of
his HP. Don't let your HP get too low.

After you defeat him, he will become an Aura Ball, and the Sword of Love will be
able to be reforged again.

Items to find at the Valley of Eternity: Gaia Mail, Gaina Shield, Angel's Robe,
Aura Shield, Aura Armor, Aura Ball

----42. Gab Farr's lair

After getting the Aura Ball, you return to Dorado City and report your progress to
Great Gnome. Now all that is left for you to do is defeat Gab Farr.

Go to Deep lab. Your robot is waiting there with Dr. Deep. They've just finished
upgrading the submarine using pieces of Gab Farr's meteorite. They've renamed the
sub Inseking Z (inseki means meteorite). When the response to that name is less
than enthusiastic, Deep suggests Kattaiyon X (A pun on "katai yo", which means "I
am tough"). Pipoo whispers a suggestion to Dr. Deep, but it's even longer and more
obtuse that Dr. Deep's. Whatever you want to call it, the sub can now dive into
deeper waters, deep enough to reach Gab Farr's lair.

Before you go, have Laban refore the Sword of Love into the Corona Blade.

There are several undersea caves that you can now get to. Check everywhere you see
darker waters.

Gab Farr's lair is in the largest deep-water crevice, in the center of the map. It
looks like a giant sea urchin. There are three doors into the place, one on the
east side, one on the west side, and one on the south side.

---42a. Gab Farr's lair, South side

When you enter, we see Gujeau telling Gab Farr that your party has arrived. She
still doesn't understand how the hero was able to withstand so much. They've
conquered several planets before, but never encountered anything like this. She's
afraid that they have some kind of powerfuk energy, perhaps powerful enough to
defeat them.
Gab Farr is not impressed. The strong win, and the weak are oppressed. That's how
the universe works, according to him. Besides, if Gujeau had killed the hero when
she had the chance, they wouldn't have this problem. They've brought the Aura Ball
and Gab Farr wants it. Silly things like "love" and "friendship" won't stop him.
He orders Gujeau to kill them. Soon, his strongest children will be born...

Head north. Don't worry about the yellow bridges, yet. You'll be able to get to
those later. At the end of the hall, there are two staircases. One of by a brown
tile on the floor. Go down this one first. It leads to a catwalk. One of the
chests there contains the Checker Medal. Be sure to get it.

Go down the other stairs and there will be a save point. More of the kidnapped
people are here, but they hardly look human any more.

Go down the next flight of stairs. The door there is sealed. Use the Checker Medal
to open it. Inside are somepods, with kidnapped people connected to them. If you
try to talk to the people, the pods hatch and the monster inside attacks you. Go
ahead and kill all of them.

A man named Doctor Nova is waiting at the other end of the room. He is one of Gab
Farr's scientists. The eggs in this room were laid by Gab Farr. The one in the
next room is meant to become Gab Farr's successor. If you want to get in, you'll
have to fight Doctor Nova. Doctor Nova himself is very easy, but the Daedalos-3
monster he calls is another story.

After beating Doctor Nova, go inside and fight the Prince. He doesn't seem to have
any particular strengths or weaknesses as far as magic goes, but fire and bacteria
spells work nicely. When you beat him, you'll get the Prince's Tail, which will
help you get by the sensors.

Items to find in South side: Red Shoes, Vitalin All (2), Revival Herb, Again Drop,
Fairy Medicine, Angel's Tear, Magical Cube, Revival Water, Checker Medal

---42b. Gab Farr's lair, east side

Go up the stairs. Upstairs is a room with a pink glass floor. On the other side is
a huge hand. Whose hand is it? The robot thinks it's a bad sign.

Items to find on East side: Queen's Shield

---42c. Gab Farr's lair, west side

When you first enter (after seeing the hand in the East side), the robot comments
on how odd it is that they'd let you enter their base so easily. There may be a
trap. Sure enough, one of Gab Farr's henchmen draps down onto the crane. His name
is Heraclice. He jumps onto your sub and calls two underlings. After you fight the
henchmen, you have to fight Heraclice. He's actually pretty easy. If you have
powerful enough spells, you can take him in one round!

Continue down the hall. The last door is locked. If you have the Prince's Tail, it
will recognize you and let you pass. If you don't have it, go to the South side
and get it before continuing.

On the second floor, look for holes on the floor. These lead to the yellow
bridges. In the middle of the hallway is another huge hand. What could Gab Farr be
building?

Further down the hallway is a giant heart and two giant feet.

On the next floor, the Shell-beast elder is stuck in the wall! Shell-beast village
was overrun and he was captured. Elsewhere in the room is a save point.

Go through the door to the north. Gujeau will be there waiting for you. She shows
you what she's been working on. The giant body parts you saw earlier were
Fattobajah's! They've resurrected him!

Now you have to fight Fattobajah again. This time, he's strong against fire and
water but weak against thunder. His lightning attacks hit everyone in the party,
so a spell like Hospar or Last Rainbow would be handy here. His Dark Cannon attack
can do 300+ points of damage.

With Fattobajah gone, Gujeau decides to fight you herself. Beyond here lies the
incubation chamber for Gab Farr's successoer, and she can't let you in there. The
"Prince" you fought earlier was only one of many. Their tribe evolved from
insects, and insects lay hundreds of eggs at once. Gujeau is strong against all
kinds of magic, and immune to bacteria and thunder. Physical attacks are the way
to go, here.

After you defeat Gujeau, you can reforge the Sword of Love.

Gujeau begs the hero to kill her, but the hero hesitates. Gujeau doesn't
understand, but takes the chance to run away.

Go through the door to the north.

Meanwhile, Gujeau tells Gab Farr that your party will soon arrive. She asks if
they really have to fight them. She thinks she's figured out what their power is.
Domination, it turns out, is not everything. Even all you care about is conquest
and power, sooner or later, someone even stronger will conquer you.
Gab Farr ignores what she said and hits her with a lightning bolt. After all,
she'd served her purpose. He no longer needed her.

Save your game at the save point and stand on the blue cross on the north side of
the room. It will takek you to the incubation chamber Gujeau spoke of. There are
several large eggs here, and they look about ready to hatch! The machine in the
center was built to feed the energy of an Aura Ball to the eggs. Stand on the blue
cross on the south side.

You've reached the last room. Gujeau is there, almost dead. She says she finally
figured out the secret of your power, and why the robot had changed so much. She
says if she is reincarnated, she wants to be born as one of your friends. Gab Farr
tries to hit the hero with a lightning bolt, but Gujeau shields him, and dies soon
after.

Gab Farr finally appears. He wanted the Aura Ball in order to create a generation
of creatures just like him, but you interfered. He creates three Gablings and you
have to fight them.

After you defeat the Gablings, you fight Gab Farr himself. He is somewhat strong
against most magic, but spells will still probably do more damage than physical
attacks. He spits juice that temporarily lowers your attack power.

Yes, this fight is fairly easy. But Gab Farr isn't going to die that easily. What
you fought was just Gab Farr's larva. Gab Farr morphs into his final state. Now
you fight for real. He's still fairly strong against spells. His physical attacks
can lower your HP to 1, and his beam attack can do around 100 points of damage to
each member. He can also absorb your HP.

Items to find in West side: Omega Lid, Bi-Ring, Wonder Ring, Magical Cube, Magic
Patch, Sun Bow, Fancy Cape, Vitalin All, Magic Half, Angel Crucifix, Steel Wrist

---43. Ending

After you defeat Gab Farr, he is sealed in an Aura Ball. However, his death has
triggered the lair's self-destruct mechanism. You have to quickly save all the
people you can and get back to the sub!

After everyone gets into the sub, the robot stays behind to take the meteorite
back into space before in explodes. He is truly sad to leave everyone, and even
sheds a tear. Even the robot has gained a human heart, it seems.

Safely away from Gab Farr's lair, your party watches the explosion and mourns the
loss of the robot.

Go back to Dorado City (now completely repaired) and soak up the praises from all
the friends you met over the coarse of the game. The Helpers you found says their
goodbyes. The 4 sister congratulate you. Great Gnome is waiting with Dorado City's
king, now freed from Gab Farr's clutches. Dr. Deep comes to tell you the sub is
leaving. As he leaves, he yells at Pipoo, and actually gets his name right for
once.

On your way out, more of your friends, including the "A" helpers not in your
party, say goodbye. Exactly who depends on who you have with you, naturally. At
the docks, your party finally takes their leave. The Elders of the Saboten and
Shell-beast village are there, too.

The Shell-beasts invite you to stay at their village until they can find a way to
send you back home. But the magic of the Shells intervene and send you back on
their own. The others try to stop it, but are knocked away.

So the adventure ends, as if it were all a dream. Perhaps it was a dream. But when
you open your hand, you find the Fire Shell there...

And the credits roll...

What you see after this depends on which characters were in your party at the end.
You see a little of what happens to each of them after the battle.

Congratulations! You have finished Daikaiju Monogatari!
